Cheers!

Cheers with hot soup!

Since there have been only two of us on Christmas Day it has become a tradition to go for a walk and have a picnic.  We used to go off as soon as S finished work in the late morning and sometimes picnic in an area with extensive views from the Cotswolds towards Wales. Regretably the last year we were there the snow was quite deep with an icy wind and treacherous roads so the car was our preferred location.   Today the clouds cleared in time for us to set off after church with nothing to stop us from enjoying the beautiful sunshine.   As we sat sipping our soup looking across at the waves lashing the sandbar near Craigielaw Point we watched 7 seals lying on the sand awaiting the incoming tide while hundreds of wading birds scoured the sand for food.   The shelducks and eiders took little notice of us and the only sounds were of the oystercatchers and curlews and the waves.  Peace and tranquillity.
