My take

Perfect end to lunch

My clever kids made this pudding [1], and honestly it was better than any shop-bought pudding I've ever had. Not my best ever photo, but what do you expect after a few glasses of wine...

[1] 150g each of raisins, sultanas, dried cherries and dried apricots, 50g roughly chopped almonds, 75g white breadcrumbs, 100g flour, 100ml orange juice, 100g butter, 150g muscovado sugar, 50g black treacle, 6 tablespoons brandy. Soak the fruit in the brandy overnight, then mix everything together and beat to a soft mixture. Put into a well-buttered pyrex bowl, cover and boil for six hours. Store until you need it. Then microwave for 2 min, stand for 2 min, zap again for 1 min, stand for 2 min. Turn out onto a plate and tuck in to the accompaniment of double cream and mews of satisfied appreciation.
