Life from a City

Boxing Day Walk

I took my sons out for a Boxing Day walk - I'm always in need of fresh air on Boxing Day. At my youngest's request, we went up to Temple Newsam. There has been a manor here since the Doomsday book - but the estate is now owned by the City Council. It has an amazing rich history - and has links to the Knights' Templar. Today we walked up to the little Temple (folly) on the hillside, built by Capability brown in 1726. Its  a lovely walk - about 4km, so not taxing, just enough.
The picture was taken at the end of our walk (or almost at the end). You can see Temple Newsam house, and farm in the background.
