A Leaning Tree

Spending Christmas in the company of another blipper has encouraged me to post another blip. Spartan and I are both a little crocked at the moment, he after his recent bike crash, and me after pulling my calf again sprinting up some steps to catch a train the other day. It felt strange to be taking a walk on the moor when we've only ever previously run together. It was certainly more conducive to talking and engaging with the people we chanced to meet. There were lots of folk about on the moor working off the excesses of yesterday!

The temperature has dropped further and there is the possibility of some snow arriving overnight. We hoped we might see a few flurries on our walk but it wasn't to be. I have to say that it's been wonderful to have enjoyed some surprise company over Christmas (although not so good in respect to all the work I'm supposed to be catching up on ... but no complaints!) so I could only blip this shot today. It might not have been the best thing to have suggested considering the fractured ribs he's nursing. A second after this was taken he was in a rather less elegant heap on the ground!

We talked today about lucky escapes from dangerous situations, doing extreme things and very nearly bringing our lives to an end as a result. We both feel that there is something out there that has looked out for us, keeping us safe throughout our risk taking. We've both had some very near misses. So today has been a celebration of survival and friendship. The supply of beer and food is going down, but not particularly fast. We've realised that neither of us are into excess.
