Life's Little Moments

A bad morning...

Poor Rocket has been feeling out of sorts for the last month.  We had him to the vet in November and all of his blood work came back clean, but he just didn't seem to be feeling well.  He's had a number of "accidents" in the house which, if you know cats, is VERY out of character.  A couple of things happened yesterday that made us decide to get him to the vet first thing this morning.

Now, if you've read any of my prior journal entries about Rock-man, you'll know that he is a very bad patient.  Knowing this, we took up the food and water before we went to bed last night, fully expecting that the vet would need to put him in the "immersion tank" to put him under anesthesia in order to examine him and run tests.  As we guessed, the vet did, indeed tank Rocket - which made taking a urine sample and x-rays much easier.  Turns out the little guy has a very, very bad urinary tract infection.  He got a big does of antibiotics and an anti-inflamatory shot and the vet thinks he'll make a full recovery.  Thank goodness.

We brought him home and put him in isolation for a few hours so he could sleep off the anesthesia, and also so that he could groom himself to remove the smell of The Bad Place so that Phoebe wouldn't freak out and launch a jihad.  Turned him loose in the house mid-afternoon and all seems good.  Now, we just wait and watch for the next few days.

Thanks for indulging in my silliness yesterday!  It was a fun day, capped of by an excellent meal at a Spanish-influenced restaurant last night.  A fantastic beet tartare and seared scallops for me and for hubs an arugula salad with goat cheese crouton followed by seared tuna.  And we had a lovely Marlborough NZ savignon to wash it all down.  A nice Christmas...

In case you need a dose of birds along with a busy pair of damselflies, I've posted five shots of Flickr, starting HERE

PS:  Perhaps one of my worst photos ever - but I really wanted a picture of him.  Light was poor and he was being very uncooperative - so lots of fiddling to make this even remotely acceptable!
