What does fear look like?

Today has been a bit of a mammoth day. I've been on a one day course on 'Supporting People Affected by Domestic Abuse', run jointly between Durham Christian Partnership and Derwentside Domestic Abuse Service. It has been an amazing day, including inspiring first hand accounts from various survivors of abuse in the home.

We heard some shocking statistics, but it was encouraging to learn of the many different services available to both perpetrators and those on the receiving end of abuse. It is just a shame that increasingly these services are provided by the voluntary sector.

In case you were wondering ... yes, it is me doing the painting. I would just like to point out, however, that in the picture it is a work in progress, not the finished article! It was part of a workshop titled 'what does fear look like?', the purpose of which was to explore more about the feelings around living in fear on a daily basis. It was fascinating what developed on the canvas while we conversed - not what I was expecting at all! It was interesting to see the very different perspectives.
