Ninjabread cookies

Rose and Courtney made these Christmas Eve and they were too funny to eat at the time but have now succumbed to sufferers of post Christmas sweets withdrawal (that'd be me). Somehow these cookies aren't conjuring quite the tone I sought when the girls were little. Where did I go wrong? 
But they were pretty yummy :)
