The Moon's Our Nearest Neighbour

We left Kenmore this morning and are now staying at my wife's sister's house at Kindallachan.

It was a stunning day and I spent the afternoon on Moulin Moor at the back of Pitlochry.

The light was great when I came across this derelict croft on the moor. It reminded me of the fabulous book by Ghillie Basan, "The Moon's Our Nearest Neighbour".  The book tells the story of Ghillie and her husband who decide to leave their home in Edinburgh and set up in a remote hillside cottage at the foot of the Cairngorms. Aiming to restore the cottage and build photographic studios out of the barns. The Basans begin their new life with no electricity and heavy snowstorms. Generators break down and roads quickly become blocked. A very inspiring book.
