Daffs Snaps

Gone but not forgotten.

Today we travelled up to Crawley to celebrate the life of Chess, a Polish war veteran who escaped from POW camp three times before finally hiding in a mail sack and eventually ending up on British soil. Here he met and married Herta, one of the last children who came across on the Kindertransport train in 1940. Chess had a great sense of humour and would always say that problems could be solved with a bottle of vodka, and if that didn't work then open another bottle!
Today's blip was taken in the cemetery next to the crematorium - I have never seen such a crowded and overgrown cemetery, wonderful for wildlife - I wish I could have spent more time exploring the jungle!
