The shadow side

Pentre Ifan  was my 1000th blip about 18 months ago. It's an icon of Pembrokeshire, much visited and very photogenic. More often than not one hears a variety of languages spoken at the site but today there was a mam iaith  (mother tongue) family visiting.

A fabulous day. From here we walked through the ancient wood of Coed Canol and up on to the ridge above where four rocky outcrops known as Carnedd Meibion Owen/Cairns of the Sons of Owen (Glyndwr?) represent the repositories of that Welsh hero's offspring, not dead but waiting...

As we ascended from the shady woodland the rosy rays of the lowering sun illuminated the rocks and the snow-dusted escarpment of the Preseli hills beyond. A herd of shaggy ponies cropped the frosted grass, storing warmth to see them through the night.

I've put a set of pictures from the walk here. all of which were blip candidates. Curiously though I was most drawn to this one. There always is a shadow side especially  if you are like me.
