The Storm from the North

It had been a hard Winter and Jarn knew that it was going to get worse. The winds were from the North and they would bring the raiders with their yellow hair and their iron axes.
Jarn wondered about the raiders - was yellow hair a particular characteristic of the men of the North? Maybe Saxons like Jarn also had yellow hair? I should have done my historical research, he thought to himself. I mean, would I even be a Saxon? Maybe I would have been an Angle? Or a Jute? And is "Jarn" even a name? It sounds suspiciously made up...

Do you remember those books by Geoffrey Trease and Rosemary Sutcliffe?

And, no, it hadn't been snowing here. But that's why they invented photo-editing software.
