Octavia Hill

On Monday I started a four day working holiday with the National Trust in Kent. As we were going to be staying at the newly opened Octavia Hill bunkhouse on the Outridge Estate I stopped en route at Trinity Church in Crockham Hill (Kent) to look for Octavia Hill's grave. It was pouring with rain so I went into the church and then discovered the Octavia Hill memorial stained glass window - of which this is a portion. The window depicts both her concern for inner city housing and for the countryside. Octavia Hill was one of the founders of the National Trust and the window was installed in 1995, the Trust's centenary year. 2012 is the centenary of Octavia Hill's death. The window was designed by Alfred Fisher and made at King's Langley in Hertfordshire.
