Wickiup Junction

The Wickiup Reservoir is a place to go fishing or boating on a the second largest reservoir in the state of Oregon. It was created by a dam built on the Deschutes river in 1949. The reservoir holds water for irrigation of the lands for agriculture.

Wickiup meant dwelling to the Native Americans and was constructed of tall saplings driven into the ground, bent over, and tied together near the top. This dome-shaped framework was covered with large overlapping mats of woven rushes or of bark that were tied to the saplings.

This store though is located at the turn off for the dam on highway 97 near La Pine Oregon. They are known for fresh homemade doughnuts made from scratch daily.
