Magnified

We've been trying for seven months to organise a get-together, and it finally happened tonight. I spent a great time together with an ex-colleague from work and his partner, enjoying lovely food, great company, fantastic chat, lots of reminiscing, comparing of notes — and it all as if we'd previously met only last week. Real friendship is like that: it lasts, and is easy to pick up again.

I hadn't seen Michael since he was at my 70th birthday bash. It took seven months since then. We're determined it won't be as long again.

p.s. Michael has been through rough times with his health (cancer led to removal of a lung, he's plagued with arthritis, and he's generally unwell). A side-effect of his chemo treatment has been a worsening of his hearing and his eyesight. This magnifying glass is a great aid to him for the latter.
