Day at a Time

Gate to nowhere on Holmehill

2nd January is normally the day we go for a New Year walk somewhere round Dunblane then go to friends' house for soup, pudding and cheese. This year the walk was delayed by a week and today was the day. As always the soup, pudding and cheese (whisky too for those not driving) were wonderful but the walk was significantly truncated because of the awful weather. We managed about 45 mins by the river in Dunblane, which was in full spate, and up to Holmehill. You can find out about this important part of Dunblane here: http://www.holmehill.org The long standing effort to prevent its development for houses continues.

By the end of this short walk we were soaked through. There's really not much to see in the photograph as the day was so murky. Branches had been blown off the trees in the recent high winds and disappointingly we saw that the developer had been bulldozing some parts of the hill.

Given the lack of light I was just glad not to have to resort to another ceramic Blip.
