MonoMonday:Distant::MM50

A huge bushfire has been burning all weekend about 40km to the north of us. Last night I heard the news that they'd finally gotten it under control.

I was really surprised late this afternoon to see that it had flared up again, the billowing plumes of smoke rising high into the sky. Even 40km away seemed too close!!

22 water bomber aircraft have been battering it with tons of water all weekend but the wind has been strong and kept it spreading!

Tonite after sunset I saw some of the water bombers heading back to Perth and managed to get this shot. Although they are distant I liked this image, the guys that fly these planes and helicopters are true heros.

Thanks for hosting Skeena! :))
