Information Overload

The winds and weather this morning were pretty awful and led to these press releases from Derbyshire Dales District Council concerning the Bakewell monday market and our never say die market traders.

08.45
Unfortunately, due to high winds and safety concerns for traders and the public, Derbyshire Dales District Council has been forced to cancel today’s scheduled stall market in Bakewell. Around 20 traders had turned up for business when we made the decision this morning.

The wind was lifting off the boards that sit across the stalls, and we had no option but to cancel, as was the case with our scheduled market in Ashbourne on Saturday.

Please note, further to our email earlier this morning: 24 traders of the usual 157 have taken the decision to stay on to do business in Bakewell today despite high winds that forced us to officially announce the cancellation of today’s stall market in the town.

We can now confirm that 44 traders had turned up for business when we made the decision, 20 of them deciding to call it a day at that time.
