Feeding Frenzy

With snow, sleet and biting winds from the North robins and chaffinches are arriving regularly at the garden feeders. This feeder is 'squirrel-proof' and on a spring that closes down the feeding openings when a heavier weight alights on the perching ring. However, pigeons are not quite heavy enough and have learned to feed while flapping keep their wings to keep their balance on the precarious perch. In the lower picture the white shape below the feeder is the arrival of a robin showing that its underbelly and inside wing feathers are white.
