Biggin on the bump

Wartime pilots had their own nickname for Biggin Hill, the airfield in North Kent. They called it 'Biggin on the Bump' because of its location on a ridge with the land falling sharply away to one side. In recent times the old hanger buildings there have all looked a bit tired, but there is a glitzy modern building there now, occupied by RizonJet, a private aviation company. It houses some very interesting aircraft, including a Spitfire and a Hurricane, as well as some rather exotic looking private jets.

It was the location used by Ford for a technical presentation and lunch today during the new Mondeo drive event. The tables where we lunched were wonderful, glass-topped with highly polished piece of aircraft engines underneath. I also loved the sharp winter light sharing in through the huge hanger windows.
