St James the Great, on Cardiff's Newport Road, was closed for worship in 2006.

Designed by Col E M Bruce Vaughan & built 1890-93, on land provided by Lord Tredegar; the congregation had dwindled to just fifteen people, making it financially impossible for the parish to sustain the costs of maintaining the huge building. It won't face demolition as it's grade 2 listed, but it's future use is currently uncertain & is falling into a state of dereliction.

Many thanks to Himself for hosting the Derelict Thursday challenge.
