Two faces

Edinburgh is often described as having dual identities e.g. Old Town/New Town, Light (enlightenment, literature, inventions, etc)/Dark (murderers, hangings, plague, etc), modern(EICC)/ancient(castle), fine dining(Michelin starred restaurants)/cheap dining (deep fried Mars bars), the list goes on.

One thing that might split the city more than anything else is football, with Heart of Midlothian FC (Hearts) on one side of the city and Hibernerian FC (Hibs) on the other. Today saw the first time since 1896 where the two sides met in the Scottish Cup Final (for those that follow Scottish football this is apparently a big deal). This actually splits the city into three; the Hibs fans, the Hearts fans and the rest of the city who couldn't care less and wishes everybody would just shut up about it!

Anyway I thought this dual picture was appropriate of the "theatrical masks" on the water fountain thingy on Edinburgh's Royal Mile (just outside the Fringe shop).
