Swans A-Swimming

The day started grey and dreary with a fine dusting of snow.  By the time I had done the weekly shop all signs of snow had gone, to be replaced by blue skies and bright sunshine.  So I headed over to Shepherd Meadows for a walk up the Blackwater Valley to Sandhurst Memorial Park, round its Balancing Pond and back to the car.

The pond normally has a good population of water fowl including Mallards, Egyptian geese, Heron and the like. Today there was a large contingent of gulls and a flock of around 20 swans, with gleaming white plummage - just begging to be blipped through the reeds
