Prizeless

Todays photo wouldn't earn a star but it summed up the day.

First the good news - Flash survived the night with me. It did get very emotional at around 5:00am when he started to pant and moan but luckily it was probably being stuck in the very warm sitting room - I hadn't had a minutes sleep, had kept the log fire well fed and spent the time browsing around on Blip and on various websites connected with Viagara. Well Pfizer actually, who also produce the painkiller that I suspect caused his fit yesterday. The incidents of death of older dogs taking this drug is shocking and the side effects, including fits, is well documented but time & time again one reads about the treatment being given but no warning from the vet. Get an eye ointment for your pet and you get a box with the instructions/warnings sheet. Be given dangerous prescription only drugs and you get them individually counted in to an envelope with the daily dosis written on it and if lucky what the drug is called.

Same thing happens to us humans in hospital - simply a box packed with pills marked Morning, Midday, Evening, Night. With a bit of experience I am now able to identify the ones that end up in the drawer - asking questions simply makes the situation worse. At home at least we get the pills in packets with the warning sheet - OK we never read them but thats our choice mainly because one can't find the reading glasses or a magnifying glass and anyway if you did read the side effects you wouldn't ever take the things.

Eventually at about 7:00am I crashed out on the sofa after Luna followed, somewhat wobbly but with full enthusiasm, by Flash both dashing out to chase away any possible deer that had found their way in to the garden. The rain of the night was slowly turning white and so it continued the whole day. It's much too warm still and the snow is simply slush. I stayed horizontal all day also having a very nervous tummy caused no doubt by the combination of Flash, carrot salad and an aubergine I had cooked. Angie had lucky made her own snack last night.

The Blip is of our late afternoon - Angie worn out from doing the animals including a good walk in Ottobeuren with Flash. Here she has set up the tripod hoping to take a photo of the woodpecker who appeared a few minutes before. He naturally didn't reappear. Cindy the black cat sitting in front of the window selecting her dinner and Flash taking a snooze at Angie's side. I was watching the re, re, re-run of one of the Gerrman TV produced sloshy romantic "Rosamunde Pilcher" films, all filmed in the West Country. Was hoping to spot the missing Blip pirate. No luck BUT I did get a new follower today to replace his loss. Strange sense of Déjà vu when seeing her journal. Did bring a smile to my face though. Talking of which stars to our Anglo-French friend and his spirited Blip today. These are the people who make Blip what it is.

Another close Blip friend, very well meaning as a way of calming, commented it was "only a photo" site. I am sure that for her and many of us, it is actually far more. At the end of the day she is of course right but it would be sad to lose so many ..... well what do you call them? They aren't family but they aren't "just" friends. Hell, they are Blipers and have a special place in our lives.

Have a great Sunday and Flash says a very big thanks for all your good wishes.
