Wildlife at the War Memorial

So far as I've waited for the ceremony to begin on this the fifth day of 100 Days For 100 Years I've seen 9 species of birds, so set off today thinking I'd best get a bird flying because I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms !
This is the Black Billed Gull, endemic to New Zealand, found on the coastlines and breeding inland on the braided rivers of the South Island.
Conservation Status is Critically Endangered due to decreasing breeding numbers. Maori Name Tarapunga... Tara is a generic name for gulls and also means 'to gossip or spread scandal'(yes Gulls to do that don't they !), punga meaning larger
