Shiny, Happy People!

Happy Buddha Day Melbourne!

Yes that's right - it's time for a festival in Federation Square and what better than Buddha Day. There were giant Buddhas, incense and flowers, chanting and monks, football fans on their way to the game.... and then there was the amazing food and bollywood dancing: I know, I didn't link Bollywood dancing and Buddha either, but once I watched the monks dancing along, it seemed to make sense.

Incidentally, todays blip features the amazing throngs of colourful satin fabric that surrounded the giant Buddha located in the centre of the square. Devotees placed incense and flowers at its feet, with one women commenting that buddhism (for her) lead to happiness and enlightenment.

Needless to say, (irrelevant of beliefs), it was nice to spend the afternoon in the heart of Melbourne with shiny, happy people!
