Red Billed Gull Seymour Square

There's always a couple of the Red Bills in the Square - hanging out at the Fountain or parading on the lawns - looking for hand outs no doubt. This one tickled my fancy - kept peering at itself in the water, then a peck at the reflection...have to say it looked a bit clueless ! The endemic Red Billed Gulls are our other small Gull - once abundant their conservation status is now 'Threatened'- there still seems to be plenty around but numbers are now much reduced...much like the Black Billed Gull I blipped  a few days ago. This is also Tarapunga in Maori - Tara meaning Gull or to gossip or spread scandal, and punga, meaning larger.
