Milwaukee Harbor

The red structure is the Pierpoint Lighthouse which was built in 1872 & the white structure is the Breakwater Lighthouse, built in 1929 in an art deco style. Both are located in the Milwaukee Harbor, & in the past, both of them lit & protected the entrance to the Harbor.
The Breakwater Lighthouse was owned by the U.S. Coast Guard up until 2011 at which time it was acquired by a non-profit group who is now planning a $2,000,000 renovation of the structure-- to include a gift shop, museum, & a meeting room for use in various projects relating to the Lake. They are projecting a 3-5 year time frame, as the only way to reach the structure is by boat, so all materials will have to be loaded up & then taken out to the Lighthouse--plus the work can only be done in the warmer weather since the harbor is frequently filled with chunks of ice in the winter, making it almost impossible to navigate.   :)
