Reflecting.......

On the terrible consequences of World War One. In New Zealand 120,00 men enlisted, 103,000 serving overseas - this was 10% of the total population in 1914.  18,166 were killed and lie in foreign fields, many of them with unmarked graves (the three in my family are so). A further 43,000 were wounded and returned, many living short lives because of wounds or living on with frightful disabilities. Additionally 3000 served in the Australian forces and 550 nurses volunteered.......
