Cairo Taxi Driver

One of the old school, this taxi driver was polite and helpful to another driver who asked directions. He was concerned enough to catch him up at the next set of lights to expand his initial guidance.

I coached into Norway, England, and Slovenia before doing some shopping which included bread, bananas, cheddar, shampoo, conditioner, razor blades, tipex, A4 paper, and printer ink.

My editor came back with a review of the lastest version of the manuscript. She said it read beautifully with more pace than before. Her mark ups consisted of the suggestion to delete one one-line sentence, change the tense of two paragraphs and move a number of commas and periods inside quotation marks which I had inadvertently left out. Not too much in one hundred and fifty four pages. I heaved a huge sigh of relief and will have 'Version Final Final' ready in a day or so.

In other news, our street-kid friend, Yasheen, has been hit by a car and has a broken ankle. He's confined to home for twenty days. Through his cousin we've delivered a couple of translated Harry Potter books to him. He was delighted enough to pass back a message that he wants to speak to us on his cousin's mobile to say thank you. We've also secured a teacher to give him private English classes when he is out and about again, if he wants them. May have to do a little bit of translated inspirational talking on that one, but hopefully his adult cousin will help convince him.
