Showgirl?

Forward lapwing!
He flies with the shell on’s head.

So says Webster - and Shakespeare says something similar. Myself,  I think that lovely pouffe of feathers on top of its head looks nothing like eggshell. In fact, I'd say this lapwing looks more like a showgirl flouncing off in a huff!

This one  was particularly huffy because I was bending down to look at her and suddenly saw a kingfisher fly past in a flash of iridescent green and squealed out "Oooo how beautiful!" 

Definitely upstaged she was. No wonder she stalked  off, feathers ruffled.
