The Victorians

See those Victorians? Blimey, they did some building in this City. They fairly carpeted the fields in tenements and churches and rolled out parks and libraries and schools. And they're all still there. Not like the rubbish they build these days. Rubbish! I was on my way to take part in a little focus group to hear the speech of our preferred candidate. Talk was of the need to attract support from across the spectrum; as one person put it - it's a very Conservative city. Well, it is, and it isn't. Between the great reform act and WW1, the city always returned liberal MPs. Note to young people: this was before Clegg. Aye, and the dominance of wir Labour MPs in the city is only decades old of course, and may shortly come to an end according to the tea leaves. So it goes.
Right, that's enough of that. Did you see Winston's barge on the Thames? I thought he died years ago! No one in the Diggers for a teatime pint could understand it, either. Baffling. I had more than the one pint after that. It proved to be a slippery slope.
