Desert Squirrel

By PolS

Bougainvillea

We have this prickly, purple climber growing by our deck.  In warmer areas it can be weedy, and a very unpleasant weed at that.  Here, it doesn't seem to seed, but grows vigorously to produce masses of flowers. Our plant benefits from shelter from the southerly wind.  A branch of this plant that used to grow on the other side of the sheltering wall produced small leaves and few flowers.
