Back to the Future?

Mr C is looking through boxes of letters, documents etc he brought here after his mum died.  This is the bill she got as a result of her stay in hospital for his birth.  She had eclampsia and there was no NHS then.  It must have been a hefty bill for her.  Her husband was away in the war with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and eventually captured in Italy, and she lived with her parents.  Her dad was a shepherd.

I hope this is not where we are heading with the NHS - which we are being told is "not viable in its current form".  Yes it is, if we are prepared to pay more in tax for it, and I would be.
