The Cotton Building....

The Cotton Building is a new office block, that will have all kinds of special features, in Spinningfields. At the moment all there is, is a HUGE hole which is quite impressive in its own right. The crane has arrived and they have just put in these enormous, yellow braces that are there to support the finished building. It's taken a long time to get the building this far. Good foundations are important and take time. Once those are in the buildings tend to shoot up.

Another office block is going to be put up round the corner on Hardman Square. Across the river from here more offices are appearing. And just this afternoon they have announced yet another office block nearby, planned for Quay Street replacing a couple of rundown 1960s blocks. Building is going on all over the city at the moment. We must be back to pre-recession levels again. I've always liked the dramatic Left Bank (of the Irwell not the Seine) apartment block behind the site of the new building, with that bridge of apartments connecting Manchester's twin towers.
