Arrivals and Departures

Train travel is so much part of our lives that it has ceased to be remarkable. Yet it is great way of moving around. More money is at last being invested in upgrading stations on suburban routes. The shot on the left is the arrival of the Milngavie to Edinburgh ScotRail train at Hyndland Station with the old Gartnavel Hospital on the hill. In the foreground is the partial shadow of the new bridge with one of two turrets that house lifts.

On the right  passengers are descending the bridge that links to Hyndland in the West End  and the modern Gartnavel Hospital Complex. Scotrail's contract has not been renewed. At some time in the future its livery will disappear as the Dutch company Albellio has won a 10-year contract to run most of Scotland's trains from April.
