horns of wilmington's cow

Entirely expected

Boiler engineer booked in between 12 and 6. Call at 5 that it wasn't going to be today and would Friday be okay. Bartered them to tomorrow, then had another look at the boiler, and taking a panel off uncovered a deluge of trapped water. Worried about the effect of the water on the electrics (even though all was shut off, it just seemed folly to leave it like that longer than necessary). Called up, and got them to treat it as an emergency, which lead to an engineer being available at 7.50pm, who then spent an hour drying stuff out, replacing some circuitry, and ordering parts to be fitted on Friday. Boiler is now isolated, so we at least have water, just not with any heat to it. But a cold wash is better than no wash at all.

Tomorrow I have to get out of the house!
