Fleetwith Pike

On the request of the group, we drove to Honister pass and walked up Fleetwith Pike from the back - not too steep, nor too far, but a little ice and a few snowdrifts made it interesting. As you can see, the top of Fleetwith Pike was only covered with a dusting of snow, but the views across to Great Gable were amazing.

The day didn't end quite as well as planned, with me disappearing through the ice and into a bog up to my thigh, soaking (and freezing) my left foot - right at the top of the walk. But one guest - only about 400m from the car, despite having proper ice grippers on his boots - slipped on the ice (after doing the whole walk!) and suffered a broken leg.

Feeling awful about it, but to be honest, it could have happened in the car park.
