Luxury Dwelling...

not yet but soon will be, believe it or not!

This house is one of three similar properties, on a large plot about 50 yards from our house. It has been in this condition for as long as we've lived here. An elderly lady lived in one of them until 8 years ago and then the plot was sold for 1.2 million pounds.

We assumed that it would be developed but nothing happened. The garden is completely wild and the birds love it, as it is so untamed. During Spring time, the bulbs start so come up and it becomes like  Frances Hodgson Burnett's Secret Garden. Last year, metal railings were put all around the plot, preventing trespassers from entering but still no building work was started.

Personally, I would prefer it if it were left like this but I know that I'm in the minority. According to our village magazine, planning permission has been granted and they are going to be renovated and turned into luxury homes. Apart from the sycamores and shrubby undergrowth, the trees have to be left untouched. There is a huge yew tree in the centre, which I think they will incorporate into the driveway, maybe making a central island to drive around.

All this development will probably mean that we get street lighting and pavements :-(
