Open Doors

An upside of my job is that you often get to see inside buildings that the general public would either not see or have to wait for one of the Open Doors days to have an opportunity to enter.

This is the main hall of the Royal College of Physicians in Queen Street, Edinburgh. I was there twice today for two separate meetings - morning and afternoon. The phtoo really doesn't do the room justice - out of shot there's a stunning and massive chandelier. The detail on the ceiling is amazing. And there are portraits (all male of course) lining all four walls.

I dare say the Royal College does make use of it but the rabbit warren of meeting spaces and conference rooms seem to be used now by a variety of different organisations - no doubt the room hire rates help keep the whole place going.
