Green Woodpecker

This Green Woodpecker is a regular visitor to the field opposite our house. I think he finds himself a nice tasty ants' nest and then settles down to eat the lot, as he will stay in one spot in the field for up to an hour. Usually he's too far away to get a decent shot even with my zoom lens but this morning he was comparatively close to the house, although even with the zoom I've still had to do quite a drastic crop to bring him properly into view.

Thanks for all the comments on my Blip yesterday - I'm sure everyone realised that the landlord of that particular pub was not being over-generous with his steaks!
