The Great Denham Archer

Spent a wet couple of hours looking round Bedford Museum and Art Gallery which has recently re-opened after a long period of development. This unfortunate chap is an archer who was discovered when a housing estate was being built to the west of the town; apparently they knew he was an archer because of the oblong flat stone on his wrist which was designed to protect him against the string of the bow. The art gallery is worth a look; three early Turners and an early Gainsborough amongst the collection.
