Dunnottar Castle, Aberdeenshire

Today after another good breakfast we packed up our gear and left the hotel.  Travelled north to just outside Stonehaven, and started our walk near Bellman's Head, walking in the Dunnottar woodland, and eventually walking towards Dunnottar Mains and coming to the coast and Dunnottar Castle.

The light was wonderful at the castle, very clear and sunny, and the photographers amongst us, and there are a good few, spent our time going hither and thither to get good angles.  And lots of photos taken of groups with the castle in the background.

We stopped here for a bit of lunch, and had lots of time to enjoy this stunning castle.  No one else was there, as it was a cold though sunny day.

From the castle we walked along the cliffs towards the Stonehaven War Memorial, a magnificient memorial situated on the hill above Stonehaven.  More photographs taken there.  And then a downward path ending up at the harbour at Stonehaven, where our coach had special permission to park and await our arrival.

We left Stonehaven and headed homeward, stopping at Auchterarder, where we had a meal organised at the Auchterarder Golf Clubhouse.  This was a great place to stop, not far from home, and homely but high quality food.

Arrived back in EK about 8pm, tired but happy.  What a lovely time we had!

Thanks to all who gave this picture stars and hearts; you put it in the popular pages, and I appreciate it.
