How do they do it?

This morning, we took the dogs for a walk round Pitfour Lake. It is only about ten minutes by car from where we stay, and on beautiful days like today, it is simply stunning.
There were about forty swans there, some on the grass, some in the lake, one on the ice and this one.
It totally amazes me how he can generate so much power with the beating of his wings to take off. And the sound of his feathers and the water!
I think I was very lucky to capture this today.
