Threshing rice

Today we travelled up into the Western Ghats to the hill station of Munnar. The land here is very green and lush but cooler than Cochin. On the way we passed these people working in the rice fields. You can see a woman threshing the rice which falls out onto the floor. It is then tossed In the air on a large plate to separate the grains out.

People here are very friendly and most are willing to have their photo taken, so I must take this opportunity to come to grips with taking photos of people.

This is really the photo for 10th but yesterday's got posted onto today's somehow. Oh well.
