National Foundation Day

Today celebrates the foundation of Japan. According to the earliest Japanese history records the first Japanese emperor was crowned on this  day. Once celebrated with parades, grandeur and exuberance, since the  end of the Second World War Foundation Day has been marked in a much more reserved manner.  Although you do see the occasional flag being waved.

Patriotism consists not in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong.
