Dazed

There are a lot of big windows in our house, and, mistaking the reflections for their friends, birds fly into them daily. We hear the resounding reports and often have to clean bird shaped dust images and feathers off the windows. Some glance off and fly away, some are not so lucky and we find their little broken bodies on the ground beneath the windows.

This golden crowned sparrow fared better than those unfortunates and sat unmoving on our porch for over an hour, requiring a circuitous exit from the house for Ozzie and me when we went for our walk. Fortunately, by the time we returned he had recovered his senses and deparated.

We have stickers on the windows, but they manage to find the one bit that doesn't have a sticker on which to brain themselves.

Life in the country is filled with little dramas.
