It has been a brilliant sunny day in Budapest but towards dusk the clouds have started to gather.
This imposing 50 foot high monument stands atop Gellert hill, overlooking the Danube. It was set up to commemorate the liberation of Budapest by the Russian army in 1945.
The arrival of the Russians put an end to the Fascist regime but was also the start of Soviet rule that was to last until 1991.
