Taking flight

Today we were late for church. Trying to fit some bird counting time to a full day, we drove around the dike in the morning, taking note of anything with wings. It was well worth it, we saw: tundra- (whistling) swans,  sandhill cranes, red-tailed hawks, American kestrels, white egrets (44 of them), starlings, mallards, robins, Northern pintails, and to top it off, a bald eagle! Here are some of the tundra swans, making an escape.
