Red Devil

In spite of his bright colour this large hunting wasp was very good at hiding. A moment later he’d vanished among the bronze leaves of the fennel. This wasp preys on large spiders, so I’m not particularly pleased to see him.

Apart from bumblebees there are few insects about at present. All this season there has been a noticeable lack of aphids, which is good in some ways, but not in others. The creatures that feed on them, such as ladybirds and praying mantids, have become very scarce.

When I log into my computer as somebody else the tag system works fine, but the tags are not applied to the photos in my real account. I don’t know if this can be fixed. After yesterday I didn’t have the nerve to contact them again.
