Stark Contrast

No, not the photo, but the contrast between the boy who picked the cherries and his usual fruit and veg intake. Let's just say that Conor's normal attitude to his five-a-day is that tomato ketchup and chocolate probably count. So today he picked and ate a cherry (just the one, but it's a start).

Last night Mr B and I watched far too much Game of Thrones, greedily gobbling up episode after episode. So we all had a lie in this morning. Katherine's french tutor is on holiday, so we had no early start to deal with and all wandered downstairs for breakfast at around 10am. Very nice. After a load of painting in the hall (cornice - very tiring on the arms) a call from Conor's football coach confirmed that his football training was cancelled. They normally do this if it has rained a lot as, with clay soils, the ground can be quite treacherous. But actually the reason this time is that this weekend sees the big local football tournament (which we will miss) and they don't want the pitches all churned up by little boys.

So a jolly lazy Wednesday compared to the normal course of events: Mr B took Katherine to and from art, and I dealt with riding (where Katherine galloped very elegantly - most of the girls lean back to gallop but Katherine prefers to lean forward like a jockey which I think looks much more comfortable all round). Tomorrow, a great deal more painting, and probably some more standing staring at the huge electricity bill and sighing a lot. Oh, and eating cherries. Not all bad.

Must, must, must earth up the potatoes...
